Greg did an outstanding job engaging our athletes through interactive activities while emphasizing the importance of building a winning culture and becoming leaders. One of the most powerful messages was that leadership isn’t defined by a title or being named a team captain. True leaders are those who consistently build others up, set the standard through their actions, and positively influence those around them.
If I had to summarize today’s workshop in one statement, it would be this:
Winning teams don’t happen by accident. They are built by coaches and athletes who choose the right standards, reinforce them every day, and hold each other accountable. Culture is everyone’s responsibility.
The Culture You Build Determines the Success You Achieve
* Culture is what you allow. Every behavior you accept—good or bad—becomes your team’s standard.
* Culture is what you emphasize. You can’t focus on everything, so consistently reinforce the values and behaviors that matter most.
* Culture is built every day. Winning cultures aren’t created on game day—they are developed through daily habits, accountability, relationships, and consistent effort.
I’m excited to read Greg’s book, but even more excited about the potential impact today’s workshop can have on our athletes and coaches. My hope is that we take these lessons and intentionally apply them across every sport and every team at Rothsay. If we commit to building a strong culture together, we’ll not only become better athletes—we’ll become better teammates, better leaders, and better people both in competition and in life.
Culture isn’t built overnight. It’s built every single day by the choices we make.
